FLAT DC GEARMOTORS
A flat gearbox can make a geared drive easier to package where height is restricted but there is room across the mounting surface. The gearbox width, length and shaft location are just as important as its height when fitting the assembly.
The listed TT, AF, MG, VF, GF and TA combinations pair flat gearboxes with brushed DC motors. Compare the required output speed against the available ratios and check the gearbox's continuous torque limit: a motor rated-point output calculation is not a guarantee that the gearbox can carry that torque continuously.
Key checks for a flat installation include:
- Gearbox height, width and mounting footprint
- Output shaft position and connection to the load
- Required speed, ratio and continuous torque
- Motor voltage, operating cycle and start-up load
Review the selected series for its motor and ratio options, then verify the complete assembly dimensions before finalizing the mounting design.
