FLAT SPUR GEARBOXES
Flat spur gearboxes place the reduction stages in a shallow housing. This can help where a mechanism has limited height, provided there is sufficient room for the gearbox footprint and the position of its output shaft.
The AF, VF, MG, TT, GF and TA series have different housing dimensions and torque ratings. For example, the listed TT housing is 16 mm high, while TA is 25.5 mm high; height alone does not describe the full space required. Ratios and allowable torque vary by configuration.
Before choosing a flat gearbox, verify:
- Length, width, height and mounting footprint
- Output shaft location and diameter
- Ratio needed for the intended output speed
- Continuous torque, peak load and motor interface
To compare motor pairings, see flat DC gearmotors. Confirm the drawing for the selected variant before fixing the layout.
