DC AND BRUSHLESS MOTORS
Motor selection starts with the motion the mechanism must produce. A motor that fits the space still needs enough torque at the required speed, a suitable supply and a control method that fits the machine.
Our range includes brushed DC, brushless DC, outrunner and robot joint motors. Brushed motors use a simpler drive but have brushes that wear; brushless designs require electronic commutation. Outrunners have a rotating outer body, while the robot joint range is intended for joint motion. Check the individual model and its available data before choosing.
Compare these requirements before selecting a motor:
- Working speed and torque, plus starting and peak loads
- Supply voltage, current and controller compatibility
- Available diameter, length, mounting and shaft space
- Duty cycle, temperature and maintenance access
For low-speed output, a gearmotor may be a better starting point. Verify the gearbox limit and output conditions for the selected combination.
