PLANETARY GEARBOXES
Planetary gearboxes reduce motor speed through stages arranged around a central axis. Their inline layout is useful when the driven shaft should follow the motor axis and radial space is constrained.
The PG series ranges from 16 to 56 mm in listed diameter. Different ratios can change gearbox length and output capacity, so a PG16 at one ratio should not be assumed to have the dimensions or rating of another. Match the gearbox input to the motor's shaft and mounting interface before committing to a combination.
Check the chosen planetary gearbox for:
- Reduction ratio and resulting output speed
- Maximum continuous torque for the selected variant
- Gearbox length and output shaft diameter
- Motor interface and permissible load conditions
For a preselected motor pairing, explore planetary gear motors. Consider losses and peak loads as well as the normal duty point.
