OUTRUNNER BRUSHLESS MOTORS
In an outrunner motor the outer rotor turns around the stator. This construction changes how the motor fits into a mechanism: allow clearance around the rotating body as well as space for the shaft and wiring.
The MX22 through MX53 series span listed motor diameters of 28 to 62 mm. Their KV values describe the approximate no-load speed per volt, not the speed a mechanism will reach under load. Compare the selected winding's rated voltage, torque and power with the working point, and confirm the controller and feedback requirements for that variant.
When integrating an outrunner, check:
- Clearance around the rotating outer housing
- KV, supply voltage and the required loaded speed
- Continuous load, starting current and controller capability
- Mounting, shaft loads and cooling in the enclosure
Where the outer rotor cannot be accommodated, compare the BLDC motor range. Review individual specifications before finalizing the mechanical and electrical interfaces.
